Privacy policy

Your personal information belongs to you. Here, in plain words, is what we collect, why, and how we look after it. No jargon, no fine print.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to host you properly.

When you write to us through the contact form or sign up for the newsletter, we receive your name, email, phone, and message.

When you reserve, we collect your reservation details, a table through OpenTable, a room through our booking system (Hotel Hibou and Little Hotelier).

When you eat or stay with us, our point of sale keeps the information tied to your purchase and your visit.

Our website uses only essential cookies, the ones that make the site work and remember the language you chose. Nothing more.

Why we collect it

For simple reasons. To answer your questions, to take and confirm your reservations, and to run the inn and the restaurant day to day.

We send our monthly newsletter only if you have said yes. Not before, not otherwise.

Your consent, and how to withdraw it

Your consent must be clear, free, and informed. We ask for it separately, for each thing, and never with a box that is already ticked.

You can withdraw it at any time. Write to us at info@mactaverne.ca and we will take care of it.

Your rights under Law 25

Quebec law gives you real rights over your personal information. You can:

Access the information we hold about you.

Have it corrected if it is wrong.

Withdraw your consent.

Ask that your information be deleted once it is no longer needed.

To exercise any of these rights, write to us at info@mactaverne.ca.

Service providers and storage outside Quebec

To operate, we rely on a few trusted providers, for example our email and newsletter service, OpenTable, and Google.

Some of them may store information on servers located outside Quebec, including in the United States.

We choose reputable, well-established providers, and we ask them to protect your information.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal information only as long as it is needed for the purpose we collected it for. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

The person responsible

One person here is responsible for protecting your personal information. That is Tim Robertson, the owner.

You can reach him at info@mactaverne.ca with any question about this policy or about your information.

Confidentiality incidents

We keep a register of confidentiality incidents.

If an incident posed a risk of serious injury, we would notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people affected, as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we change the date below. The most recent version is always the one on this page.
